2012 PINOT NOIR

$45 per bottle incl. GST

Sold by case only.

"Vineyard on the Kawarau River near Bannockburn. A beaut wine, dark, flavoursome and with a lot of vinous liveliness. Careful making is apparent from vineyard through winery; a wine to enjoy with dinner as a classical Central Otago statement with a lot of charm. Enjoy now and watch it open in the wine glass, or in bottle - into 2020."

"Dark, deep red colour with some garnet hues on rim. This has a soft, full and voluminous bouquet with a deep and elegantly presented core of concentrated black cherry and savoury dark red berry fruits, harmoniously infused with aromas of dark and dried herb perfumes and complexities, revealing nuances of oak toast. Medium-full bodied, a deep and well-concentrated core of black cherry and black berry fruits is melded with layers of dark herb and savoury dried herb detail. A little secondary undergrowth nuance is beginning to appear.

The palate has real presence and structure from fine-grained tannin extraction, the discreet acidity contributing to the soft textures. The wine carries through to a densely packed, lingering finish with black cherry and herbal notes. This is a densely concentrated, soft-textured Pinot Noir with black berry fruit flavours beginning to show some savoury dried herbal complexities. Serve with beef, lamb and game meat, and semi-hard cheeses over the next 6-8+ years.

Hand-picked fruit, 60% clone 115 and 40% clone 10/5, fully destemmed and given a cold soak, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 24 days on
skins and aged 10 months in 35% new French oak. 400 dozen made. "
