Our

A deep ruby hue resulting from a cool growing season with low yields, suggesting great concentration and freshness even after three years in bottle. A heady perfume jumps out of the glass with lifted spice coming from the whole clusters used in the fermentation. Aromas of wild thyme, lilac, blueberry, blackberry and ripe cherry on the nose with the palate adding more dark berry and cedar. The oak is perfectly integrated, adding architecture to the wine without toasty flavours. The palate is intense and cohesive with silky tannins and refined concentration. This Pinot Noir has a serious core with an elegant intensity and salivating acidity that suggests it should be worthy of cellaring until at least 2035  A memorable vintage!

2018 PINOT NOIR

The nose is  very inviting  and delicate reflecting the warmer than average vintage, exhibiting  macerated strawberry and savoury, with brown herbs.
The palate mirrors the nose with strawberry, cranberry, and dried rose petal. The tannin is gentle and matches well with subtle oak.  The winemaker has judged the tricky vintage very well to give a balanced, light footed rendition of Bannockburn Pinot Noir.

2019 PINOT NOIR

Deep garnet hue, suggesting great concentration with very little development at 2 years in bottle.    The alluring fragrance jumps out of the glass with lifted spice coming from whole clusters used in the fermentation.  Aromas of lilac, jasmine, black pepper, blackberry and dark cherry on the nose with the palate adding more dark berry and cedar.   The oak is perfectly integrated, adding architecture to the wine without toasty flavours. The palate is intense and cohesive with silky tannins and tremendous poise.  This Pinot Noir has a serious core with an elegant intensity and searing acidity that suggests it is worthy of cellaring for 10+ years from release.  "Captivating" sums it up succinctly.

Deep garnet hue with an array of fruit aromas including blackberry, plum and dark cherry complemented by savoury notes of mulberry, wild thyme, hazelnut and dark chocolate.  This is a richly concentrated wine from a cool growing season that is framed by fine tannins and carried long on the palate by intriguing layers and intricate detail.  A delicious marriage of fruit and spice, this wine is enjoyable at release and will continue to develop for 10+ years.

2017 Black Quail Pinot Noir
2016 Black Quail Pinot Noir

This youthful, graceful red is a single-vineyard wine, grown at Bannockburn. Ruby hued, it is mouthfilling and supple, with very good depth of vibrant cherry, plum and spice flavours, and savoury notes adding complexity.

2015 PINOT NOIR

A great reflection of the 2015 vintage in Central Otago with some lovely Stella Cherry and blackcurrant aromas intermingled with spice. Similar flavours are evident on the palate with a lovely sweet fruit driven entry. These flavours evolve on the palate and the wine finishes off with slightly muscular tannins, again reflecting the warm vintage of 2015.

2013 PINOT NOIR

A beautifully expressed pinot, the fragrant and complex bouquet shows dark berry, game, vanilla and cedar characters with a touch of truffle notes. The palate is flavoursome and velvety, and offers excellent fruit richness and intensity, wonderfully structured by plenty of polished tannins. The wine is generous yet firm and proper, and finishes superbly long and appealing.

2012 PINOT NOIR

Dark, deep red colour with some garnet hues on rim. This has a soft, full and voluminous bouquet with a deep and elegantly presented core of concentrated black cherry and savoury dark red berry fruits, harmoniously infused with aromas of dark and dried herb perfumes and complexities, revealing nuances of oak toast.

2011 Black Quail Pinot Noir

A deliciously ethereal texture is the most remarkable feature of this soft and seductive Pinot Noir. Elegant rather than blockbuster style with plenty of power. Black cherry, plum, spice and a suggestion of liquorice and dark chocolate.
